Norman Dean Kemper
March 16, 1929 - April 24, 2010
Norman Dean Kemper, the son of Ernest and Regina (Horstman) Kemper was born March 16, 1929 in Westboro, Missouri. He attended the Yale Country School north of Tarkio, Missouri in his youth and graduated from Tarkio High School in 1947.
On December 12, 1948, Norman was united in marriage to Phillis J. Hull at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Westboro, by Rev. Nolte. They made their home south of Shenandoah where they raised their family. Norman farmed and raised hogs in the Shenandoah and Westboro areas until he retired in 2005. He sold Golden Harvest Seed Corn for over 30 years. He was very active in his community and served for three terms on the school board at Farragut, Iowa. He also served 17 years on the IAMO Telephone Board only retiring due to his ill health. Norman was a faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where he served on the church council and sang in the choir.
Norman was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker fan, and he had planned on attending all the home games of the 2010 season if his health would have allowed. He was also a St. Louis Cardinals fan, but most of all, he lived to spend time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Norman passed away Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital at the age of 81 years.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Phillis J. Kemper, Shenandoah; son, Doug Kemper and wife, Julie, Cameron, Missouri; daughter, Pam Keith and husband John, Trenton, Missouri; grandchildren, Greg Keith and wife Bridgette, Eric Keith and wife, Tonya, Bryce Kemper and wife, Brandi, and Jerod Kemper; four great grandchildren, Braydn, Brylee and Blayze Kemper and Makenzie Keith and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service:
11:00 AM, Tuesday, April 27, 2010, St. John’s Lutheran Church, Westboro, Missouri.
Interment: St. John’s Cemetery, Westboro.
Visitation: The family will receive friends Monday, April 26th at Davis Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.
