Oscar L. Moore, Jr. the son of Oscar L., Sr. and Ruth (Adams) Moore, was born October 22, 1925, in Watson, Missouri. He attended Star Country School, northwest of Rock Port, and Rock Port Schools, graduating in 1943. On January 5, 1945, Oscar entered the United States Navy and served his country in the South Pacific.

On January 2, 1945, Oscar was united in marriage to Margaret Edwards in Atchison, Kansas. On May 4, 1946, following Oscar’s honorable discharge, they moved to Corning, Missouri, for several years before making their home in Burlington Junction, Missouri, for 29 years. Oscar farmed a family farm and owned and operated Moore Fertilizer in Burlington Junction. In 1994, they moved to Rock Port and lived there until the present time. Oscar passed away Sunday, December 30, 2012, at the Pleasant View Nursing Home, Rock Port, at the age of 87.

Oscar loved his family and spending time with them brought him great joy. He was a member of the High Creek Baptist Church, Watson, and of the Rock Port Golf and Country Club. He enjoyed playing cards and golf and was an avid supporter of the youth golf program.

Oscar was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar L., Sr. and Ruth (Adams) Moore; three brothers, Byron, Don and Ralph Moore; two sisters, Helen Beasing and Doris Brown; two sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law. Survivors include wife, Margaret, Rock Port; sons, Dick Moore and wife, Kate, Kansas City, Missouri, Jerry Moore and wife, Amy, and Wayne Moore and wife, Maureen, all of Rock Port; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Deana Boettner, Rock Port; sister-in-law, Pauline Moore, Rock Port; and numerous nieces and nephews.

1:00 P.M., Thursday, January 3, 2013, Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.
Interment: Grange Hall Cemetery, Rock Port.
Open visitation will begin 9:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port, where the family will receive friends that evening from 6:00-7:00 P.M.
