Pamela A. Cooper, the daughter of John Turner and Betty Jean (Cooper) Prather, was born August 19, 1947 in St. Joseph, Missouri. She attended Tarkio High School, Tarkio, Missouri, graduating in 1965. Pam attended Adams State College, Alamosa, Colorado for two years before attending University of Missouri, Columbia, Missouri. She graduated in 1969, receiving a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Speech Language Pathology and Elementary Education.

 

On September 1, 1973, Pam was united in marriage to David Cooper at the United Methodist Church, Tarkio. They made their home in Fairfax, Missouri and became the parents of two children, Phillip and Magen.

 

Pam’s first teaching position as a Speech Pathologist was in Pueblo, Colorado and then Denver, Colorado. Following her marriage, Pam returned to Fairfax and over the course of her career taught at every school in Atchison and Holt County. Because of her caring, patient, and approachable personality, Pam touched the lives of hundreds of children. She retired in 2012.

 

Pam was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Rock Port, Missouri, serving on the church council and played piano for the Presbyterian Church, Fairfax. She was a member of Sorosis Club, Fairfax, and PEO Chapter FF, Tarkio. Pam was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority and the Pitch Club. She enjoyed taking Magen to gymnastics when she was younger.

 

Pam passed away Monday, July 25, 2022, in Lincoln, Nebraska, at the age of 74.

 

Pam was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include husband, David Cooper, Fairfax; children, Phillip D. Cooper, Fairfax and Magen (Tracy) Norcross, St. Joseph, Missouri; four grandchildren, Kolbe L. Cooper, Kilea M. Cooper, Kaden A. Cooper, and Lauren A. Durkin; sister, Vickie (Bill) Smith, Fairfax; nephews, Zac (Katy) Smith, Fairfax and Nic Smith, Platte City, Missouri; brother-in-law, James R. (Candice) Cooper, Fairfax; nephew, Donovan (Tracy) Cooper, Fairfax and niece, Pepe (Jade) Wright, Mound City, Missouri.

 

Funeral Service: 11:00 A.M., Friday, July 29, 2022, First Lutheran Church, Rock Port.

Open visitation begins 9:00 A.M., Thursday, July 28, Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port. There is no scheduled family visitation.

Interment: English Grove Cemetery, Fairfax.

Memorials: English Grove Cemetery, Fairfax.

Arrangements: Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.
