Phyllis L. Clark, the daughter of Harry Harvey and Elizabeth Marie (Hartman) Amthor was born September 23, 1924 on the family farm in Tarkio, Missouri.  Phyllis graduated from Tarkio High School in 1942.

 

On February 24, 1946, Phyllis was united in marriage to Alfred Walker Clark, Jr. and they became the parents of three children, Steven Lee, Nancy June, and Connie Louise.  Phyllis and “Jr.” enjoyed many vacations in Colorado, on a Dude Ranch riding horses.  “Jr.” passed away December 6, 1978.

 

Phyllis was a nurse’s aide at Community Hospital, Fairfax, Missouri and at Dr. Edward Niedermeyer’s office in Tarkio.

 

Phyllis was a member of the Tarkio Presbyterian Church.  She enjoyed growing large gardens of vegetables, and harvested fruit from her trees to sell and preserve for the winter.  She also had beautiful flowers and plants growing throughout her yard.  Phyllis enjoyed dancing, sewing and made many dresses for her granddaughter.

 

Besides her parents and husband “Jr.”, Phyllis was preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Judy Clark, son-in-law, Larry Diehl, and brother, Dean Amthor.  Survivors include, children, Steven Clark, Wichita, Kansas, Nancy Hughes, Farragut, Iowa, Connie (Byron) Johnson, Warrensburg, Missouri; four grandchildren, Amy Lynn Hughes, Marc William Micari, Brent Matthew Johnson, Christopher Michael Johnson; five great-grandchildren, Ashley, Colton, Dalton, Deklan, Lumen; two great great-grandchildren, Jayden, Alexi; brother, Larry (Anne) Amthor, Tarkio; numerous nieces and nephews.

 

 

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 21, 2020, Tarkio Presbyterian Church, Tarkio.

Inurnment: Home Cemetery, Tarkio.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 21st, Tarkio Presbyterian Church, prior to the service.

There is no visitation at Davis Funeral Home.

Memorials may be directed to Tarkio Nutrition Center or Tarkio Presbyterian Church.
