Phyllis L. Herron
1932-2014
Rock Port, Missouri

 

Phyllis L. Herron, the daughter of Emmett C. and Reka Marie (Fehrman) Block, was born November 20, 1932, in Langdon, Missouri. She attended New Excelsior country school in Langdon, graduating from Rock Port High School, Rock Port, Missouri, in 1950.

 

On May 14, 1950, Phyllis was united in marriage to Harold Dean Herron, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Langdon, Missouri. They became the parents of four children, Cathy Louise, Ricky G., Kenneth Ray and Barbara Jean.

 

Phyllis was a devoted homemaker and farmer’s wife. They made their home north of Rock Port and in Watson, Missouri, before moving to Langdon in 1959, where they continued farming. In 1973, they moved to California where Phyllis managed an apartment complex. Dean passed away in 1978. In 1980, Phyllis returned to Rock Port, where she owned and operated the Elk Inn Motel and Café until retiring in 2004. Phyllis passed away Friday, January 3, 2014, at Community Hospital Fairfax, Fairfax, Missouri, at the age of 81. Phyllis was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Rock Port.

 

Besides her parents and husband, Phyllis was preceded in death by sister, Eva Stepp. Survivors include four children, Cathy Louise Kimzey, Pittsburgh, California, Ricky G. Herron and wife, Cathy, Kenneth Ray Herron and wife, Paula, all of Rock Port, and Barbara Jean Hatcher, Brentwood, California; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one nephew, Larry Stepp and wife, Nannette, Smithville, Missouri; and devoted companion, Gerald Meyer, Rock Port.

 

Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M., Thursday, January 9, 2014, Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port, Missouri.
Interment: Grange Hall Cemetery, Rock Port
Open visitation will begin 9:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 8, Minter Funeral Chapel, where the family will receive friends that evening from 7:00 – 8:00 P.M.
