R. Stephen Pierce
1939 – 2016
Rock Port, Missouri

 

R. Stephen “Steve” Pierce, 77, loving husband, father and grandfather passed away October 9, 2016. Steve was born March 13, 1939 in Kansas City, MO to Wayne and Elabell Pierce. He was a graduate of North Kansas City High School and served in the US Air Force. On March 25, 1957 he married Deona Lee Gibson and together they raised five children. Steve began his career with IBM where he continued until his retirement. Following retirement Steve and Dee operated Steve and Dee’s Bar and Grill in Rock Port. He then continued his education receiving his degrees in criminal justice, psychology and earning his private pilots license.

 

Steve was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Stephanie Rose Erdman. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dee Pierce; sons, Mike, Brian, Steve and wife Nicole and Matt Pierce; 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

 

The family would like to thank the staff of Villa Ventura, Interim Health Care and Kansas City Hospice for the loving care given to during his brief illness.

 

A prayer service will be held at 12:00pm Saturday, October 15th at Muehlebach Funeral Care, 6800 Troost Ave, Kansas City, MO, followed by visitation until 2pm. Public viewing will be 11am-1pm Sunday at Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port, MO followed by graveside services and interment at the Hunter Cemetery.
