Regena Marline Irvine, the daughter of Chester and Marjorie (Brown) Millsap, was born May 7, 1949, in Maryville, Missouri. In 1966, Regena graduated from Tarkio High School and in 1969 from cosmetology school in St. Joseph, Missouri.
On January 28, 1967, Regena was united in marriage to Steve Irvine at the United Methodist Church in Tarkio. They initially made their home in Rock Port, Missouri and then Tarkio, and became the parents of three children: Lance, Stephanie, and Chance. They later divorced.
For over 20 years, Regena owned and operated Le Jardin Hair Salon in Tarkio. In 1995 she moved from Tarkio, eventually settling in Westwood, Kansas, and for 24 years was employed in retail sales, enjoying most, her time at Halls Department Store on the Plaza and at Crown Center in Kansas City, Missouri. In 2016, Regena moved to Fort Calhoun, Nebraska to live with her son Chance and family. She attended many of her granddaughters’ activities and enjoyed the six foreign exchange students from around the world. Regena adored Sophia and Bella and loved learning about the exchange students’ culture and cuisine. Regena returned to Tarkio in 2022, where she lived to the present time. She was very happy to be living among her friends. Regena passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Nebraska Medicine, Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 74.
Regena was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, Tarkio, and a former member of the Tarkio Beta Sigma Phi. Regena enjoyed art, crafts, making wooden Santa Claus figurines, cooking, and occasionally catered private parties and events. She enjoyed sewing Halloween costumes for her children and for several years was a caretaker for her Aunt Virginia Irvine living in Shawnee Mission, Kansas.
Besides her parents, Regena was preceded in death by, nieces, Tasha Berls and Tifani Clements, father-in-law, Maurice Irvine, sister-in-law, Sharron Brown, and Aunt Virginia Irvine. Survivors include her children, Maurice Lance Irvine, Tarkio, Stephanie LeAnne Irvine, Overland Park, Kansas, Steven Chance (Nicole M.) Irvine, Fort Calhoun, Nebraska; grandchildren, Sophia Irvine and Bella Irvine; brother, Ronnie Brown, Rock Port, sister, Cherie Beason, Gladstone, Missouri; niece, Lori Jones, Watson, Missouri; great nieces, Ava Berls, Eliza Clements, Veronica Lewis, great nephews, Clell Clements and Dalton Jones; mother-in-law, Margaret Irvine, Tarkio; brother-in-law, Larry (Jeannine Broermann) Irvine, Tarkio, sister-in-law, Kathi Irvine, Clearwater, Florida.
In honor of Regena’s wishes, her body will be cremated and there will be no visitation or memorial service.
A Private Family Inurnment will be held at a later date.
