Robert Allen Meier, the son of Harry Henry and Lena Ellen (Nelson) Meier was born January 28, 1937 in Shenandoah, Iowa. He attended the Clover Hill Country School in rural Westboro, Missouri, until the ninth grade, and graduated from Tarkio High School, Tarkio, Missouri in 1955. Bob then attended the University of Missouri, in Columbia, for two years where he was a member of the Army ROTC program.

On June 30, 1957, Bob was united in marriage to Orma Faye Noble at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Westboro. They had three children; Phil Allen, Janice Faye and Lorie Kaye. Bob farmed the family farm for a number of years while raising his family. For twelve years, he and Orma operated the Big T Motel in Tarkio. Bob then was employed by Eaton Corporation, Shenandoah, Iowa, and later by the City of Tarkio Street Department until he retired in 2010. In 2011, Bob and Orma moved to St. Joseph, Missouri, where they resided until the present time. Bob passed away Monday, February 3, 2014 at his home in St. Joseph at the age of 77 years.

Bob was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Westboro, and had been a Boy Scout leader. His hobbies were spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, camping and fishing. Survivors include his wife, Orma, St. Joseph; children, Phil Meier and wife, Janet, Maryville, Missouri, Janice Taylor and husband, Gary, Fairfax, Missouri, Lorie Hall and husband, Chris, Tarkio; fourteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and a very large and loving extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Clifford Meier.

Funeral Service:
11:00 A.M., Friday, February 7, 2014, St. John’s Lutheran Church, Westboro, Missouri.
An inurnment will be held at a later date at St. John’s Cemetery, Westboro.
The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 P.M., Thursday, February 6, 2014, at Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
