Robert (Bob) Palmer died July 7, 2018 in North Kansas City, MO. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, July 12, Linden Cemetery, rural Rock Port, MO. There will be viewing and visitation at 10:00 AM at the Linden Christian Church.

 

Memorial service will be held Saturday, July 21, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Kansas City, MO at 1:00 PM with visitation after the service.

 

Robert Palmer was born January 28, 1930 in Twin Falls, ID, to Robert Sr. and Iva Simmons Palmer. Following his father’s death, he and his mother returned to the Simmons family farm in Centropolis, KS. In 1942, he moved to Lawrence, KS.  He graduated from high school in 1949. He attended the University of Kansas before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps.

 

He married Dolores Cloepfil of Tarkio, MO on August 25, 1957. They resided in Lawrence until 1992, when they moved to Kansas City North. There were four children born of this union. Their oldest son, James Robert, died in April, 1980.

 

Bob was an active member of Sheet Metal Workers Local #2, Kansas City, MO. Before his retirement, he was employed by Cornell Roofing and Sheet Metal, Independence, MO.

 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Stanley Palmer (Dana) of Offerle, KS, Jean Sauer (Stan) of Kansas City North, and Elaine Laber (Eron) of Milwaukee, WI, nine grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.

 

Memorials may be directed to Centropolis Christian Church, American Legion Dorsey-Liberty Post #14 or Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.
