He attended Salisbury High School, Salisbury Missouri, graduating in 1949. Bob then attended the University of Missouri, Columbia, where he joined the ROTC and in 1953, graduated with a B.S. in Agricultural Engineering. Following graduation, Bob was commissioned as a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Air Force, and proudly served his country as a pilot of an F-86 Sabrejet in the 524th Strategic Fighter Squadron during the Cold War, receiving his honorable discharge in July 1956.

After his honorable discharge, Bob was employed as a University of Missouri Extension Agent trainee in Fayette, Missouri, before moving to Unionville, Missouri, where he was the Putnam County Extension Agent for nine years. In 1964, they moved back to Columbia where Bob completed his Master’s Degree in Agricultural Engineering. In 1966, the family moved to Rock Port, Missouri, where he became the Atchison County Extension Director, retiring in 1999. Bob was a trusted source of information for area agriculture for over 40 years. He especially enjoyed his time working on the newest innovations at the MU Graves-Chapple Research Center and following Mizzou Tiger sports.
