Robert W. Simpson, Sr.
1928-2015
Tarkio, Missouri

 

Robert W. Simpson, Sr., the son of Lloyd William and Opal Louise (Pierson) Simpson, was born July 18, 1928, in Clearmont, Missouri. He attended schools in Clearmont and Maryville before graduating from Tarkio High School in 1947. On August 17, 1948, Robert entered the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged June 25, 1952 obtaining a rank of Sergeant First Class.

 

In 1952, Robert, a young army soldier stationed near Yakima, Washington, met Mariece Cordes and they were united in marriage on February 21, 1953, in Robert’s hometown of Tarkio, Missouri. They became the parents of three children, Barbara, Dianne and Robert, Jr. and made their home in Tarkio their entire married life. Mariece passed away August 7, 2013.

 

Robert was employed as a heavy equipment operator for his stepfather, Ross Ray, Don Whited and Del Mayfield construction. He was also employed with Meek and Sons Plumbing and, for a number of years, served as Water Superintendent of the City of Tarkio.

 

Robert was a member of the Allen-Schiffern American Legion Post # 199, Tarkio, the North Star Lodge # 157 A.F. & A.M., Rock Port, a Past Master, and a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason of St. Joseph, Missouri. Robert passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Community Hospital-Fairfax, Fairfax, Missouri, at the age of 86.

 

Besides his parents and wife, Mariece, Robert was preceded in death by two sisters, Marilyn Howard and Marceline Ray. Survivors include three children, Barbara Tubbs, Dianne Dockins and husband, Donnie, and Robert Simpson, Jr., all of Tarkio; grandchildren, Danny Tubbs and wife, Miranda, Gardner, Kansas, and Charity Tubbs and partner Cristina Argudo, Kansas City, Kansas; great-granddaughter, Elena Tubbs; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Graveside Memorial Service and Inurnment: 10:00 A.M., Monday, March 2, 2015, Home Cemetery, Tarkio.
Open visitation will begin 10:00 A.M., Sunday, March 1, 2015, at Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio, where the family will receive friends that afternoon from 3:00-4:00 P.M.
