Rodney David Shaw, the son of Franklin D. (Sonny) and Juliette M. (Bowman) Shaw, was born June 22, 1961 in Fairfax, Missouri. He attended Tarkio schools and graduated from Tarkio High School in 1979. He was then employed by Dan Smith, servicing trucks in Tarkio.
On June 20, 1981, Rodney was united in marriage to Lesa Ann Schaefer at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Shenandoah, Iowa. They made their home east of Tarkio, where Rodney farmed for Bill Erdman from 1981 to 1989. During 1989, Rodney was employed by Bill Miller Trucking in Shenandoah and in 1991, for Blaine Brought Trucking, Tarkio. In 1994, Rodney purchased his own truck and became self employed. In 2003, he was employed by Bar – Tran in Rock Port, Missouri, until 2006, when ill health forced his retirement.
Rodney enjoyed trucking, cooking, fixing things, and attending tractor pulls and truck shows, but his true love was spending time with Lesa, his children and grandchildren on their new deck around their house. He was a member of St. Pau’s Catholic Church, Tarkio. Rodney passed away May 26, 2007 at Bryan LGH East Hospital, Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 45 years.
Besides his parents, Rodney was preceded in death by one niece Paige Balle.Survivors include, his wife, Lesa, of their home; one son and his wife, Brandon and Prescilla Shaw, one daughter, Telesa Shaw, all of Westboro; two brothers, Tim Shaw and wife Sheree, Westboro, and Mike Shaw and wife,Teresa, Tarkio; one sister and husband, Angie and Ronald Balle, Burlington Junction, Missouri; father-in-law, Vernon Schaefer, Jr. and his wife, Linda, Tarkio, mother-in-law, Nancy McComb and her husband, Bob, Shenandoah; grandfather-in-law, Vernon Schaefer, Sr., Westboro; nieces, Shannon Shaw, Andrea Cox, Jill Heitz, Catelyn Walker, Lindsay, Lacie and Lea Peregrine, and Payton Schaefer; nephews, Heith Shaw, Keaton and Connor Shaw and Charlie Walker; great niece, Julia Cox; sisters-in-law, Jamie Walker and husband, Chuck, Helena, Missouri, Wendy Peregrine and husband, Brian, Westboro; brother-in-law, Tony Schaefer, Rock Port.
Funeral Services: 10:00 am, Wednesday, May 30, 2006, Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio
