Ronald Keith Tunnell, the son of Keith Layton and Rose Mary (Driskell) Tunnell, was born June 29, 1964, in Fairfax, Missouri. Ron attended grade school in Tarkio, Missouri and graduated from high school in 1982. After graduation, Ron entered the United States Navy and graduated from basic training in October 1982.

 

Ron was united in marriage to Debra Hoyte and they became the parents of two sons, Cody and Casey. They were later divorced. Ron was later married to Christy McCoy and they became the parents of one son, Jacobi. They were later divorced. Ron was employed by Excel Beef, of Dodge City, Kansas, D&L Trailer, Red Oak, Iowa, and Golden Valley, Hamburg, Iowa. He most recently was employed as a mechanic at Graybill Tire, Rock Port, Missouri, and for American Recycling, Tarkio, Missouri. Since 2003, Ron battled numerous health issues, but through it all he remained very strong and his only concern was for his family and youngest son Jacobi. Ron passed away Thursday, November 29, 2012, at his home in Mound City, Missouri at the age of 48.

 

Ron was preceded in death by his father, Keith Tunnell; brother, Rich Tunnell; grandparents, Virgil and Lorene Driskell, and Hughes and Mildred Tunnell. Survivors include his sons, Cody Tunnell, Shenandoah, Iowa, Casey Tunnell, Nebraska City, Nebraska and Jacobi Tunnell, Mound City, Missouri; two grandchildren, Richard and Olivia Tunnell, Shenandoah; mother and step-father, Rose Mary and Brian Owen, Mound City; brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Nikki Tunnell, Denton, Texas; sister, Shelly Murphy, Country Club Village, Missouri; nieces, Brooke, Synthia, Sara and Maddie; nephew, Levi; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

 

Memorial Service:
1:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio, Missouri.
Inurnment: Home Cemetery, Tarkio.
The family will receive friends from 12:00- 12:50 P.M., on December 4, 2012, prior to the service at Davis Funeral Home.
Memorials: The Ron Tunnell Memorial Fund. All donations will go to Ron’s 12-year-old son, Jacobi.
