Rosanna McAdams
July 18, 1923 - December 27, 2008
Rosanna (Sattler) McAdams, the daughter of Otto John and Elizabeth B. (Kirchner) Sattler, was born July 18, 1923 in Herndon, Kansas. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and Herndon Public Schools, graduating in 1941. After graduation, she moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado where she worked as a nanny. She then moved to Kansas City, Missouri where she was employed at the Pratt-Whitney Defense Plant during World War II.
On April 15, 1943, she was united in marriage to Robert Stanley McAdams, Sr. in Olathe, Kansas. In 1944, they moved to Herndon and in 1947, they moved to Tarkio, where she lived to the present time. Stanley passed away March 9, 1978. Rosanna passed away Saturday, December 27, 2008 at Garden View Care Center, Shenandoah, Iowa at the age of 85 years.
Rosanna was employed with the Tarkio School District for 32 years as a cook, where she helped start the breakfast program. For a short time, she cooked for the Walnut Inn and the Blue Belle Cafe in Tarkio. Rosanna also helped start the lunch program at the Corning, Missouri Public School. Rosanna has received many honors and awards for her dedication and service to the Tarkio School System and her community, where she was greatly appreciated for her talents. Among these honors were Tarkio Citizen of the Year, Tarkio R-I Employee of the Year in 1985, and received a Retirement Proclamation from Senator Sam Graves.
Her homemade apple pies have made their way across the country to numerous family events. It was rewarding for her to see the pleasure her cooking brought to the lives of her family and friends. Rosanna was a member of the St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Tarkio.
Besides her parents and husband, Stanley; Rosanna is preceded in death by two brothers, George and Kenneth Sattler and one sister Eleanor Romine. She is survived by her daughter, Virginia (Jeanie) Jobes, three sons, Robert S. (Bobbie) McAdams and his wife Shirley, Kenny McAdams, all of Tarkio and John McAdams and his wife Jill, Omaha, Nebraska; nine grandchildren, Kelly Smith, Maryville, Missouri, Jeff (Shannon) Jobes, St. Joseph, Missouri, Tony (Jayme) McAdams, Omaha, Nebraska, Craig (Melissa) McAdams, Tarkio, Tiffani Caleb, McKenny, Texas, Curtis (Megan) McAdams, Maryville, Bryan (Meredith) McAdams, Chicago, Illinois, Holly McAdams, Union, Nebraska, Aaron (Chelsey) McAdams, Shenandoah; ten great grandchildren and expecting another in February of 2009; five sisters, LaVerne Calhoun, Clear Lake, Iowa, Alvina Smith, Atwood, Kansas, Marge McLaren, Chanute, Kansas, Doris Jean Riener, Palisad, Nebraska, Bernadine Pfannenstiel, Westminster, Colorado; numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 am, Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at
St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Tarkio,
Burial: Home Cemetery, Tarkio.
A rosary service will be held Tuesday evening, December 30, 2008, 6:30 pm at Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio, where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 pm.
Memorials: St. Paul’s Catholic Church or National Kidney Foundation.
Services are under the direction of Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio.
