Rozella Albertina (Jochim) Brown was born in Cass County, Louisville, Nebraska on January 7, 1913, the daughter of Henry August and Lillie May (Stratman) Jochim. In her early years, she attended the Bellview Rural School near Tecumseh, Nebraska and graduated in 1931 from Rock Port High School, Rock Port, Missouri.

 

On March 26, 1932, Rozella was united in marriage to Everette Edward Brown at the High Creek Parsonage in Atchison County, Missouri. Rozella and Everette farmed and raised their family in the Northwest Missouri area. She worked at the J & R Cleaners in Mound City, Missouri for several years doing alterations and then did sewing and alterations from her home. She remained very busy in her spare time as she enjoyed knitting, (had knitted ninety some afghans for her family), and was well known for her beautiful embroidery work. She also enjoyed baking (especially angel food cakes for birthdays), gardening and canning. Husband, Everette passed away August 9, 1966.

 

Rozella passed away February 16, 2007 at the Tiffany Heights Care Center in Mound City, at the age of 94 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church.

 

Besides her husband and parents, Rozella was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Anna Belle Brown; two brothers LeRoy Henry Jochim and Albert Sheldon Jochim and three sisters, Hilda Jochim Badertscher, Leora Jochim Michel and Dorothy Jochim.

 

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Robert (Bob) and Shirley Brown, Rosendale, Missouri; two daughters, JoAnn P. Bass and son-in-law, Edward, Tarkio, Missouri and N. Jane Brown, Grand Island, Nebraska; grandchildren: R. Scott Brown and R. Craig Brown both of Rosendale, Cynthia Powell Lindsay, Brookville, Kansas and Deborah Powell Fabrizio, Pueblo, Colorado; great-grandchildren, Stephanie Lindsay, Morgan Lindsay, Jordan Jo Fabrizio and Rylea Rae Fabrizio; sister Velma Jean J. McKnight, Savannah, Missouri; several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral Services were held at 11:00 am Tuesday, Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port. Burial is at Linden Cemetery Rock Port. Memorials may be directed to the Rozella Brown Memorial Fund.
