Scott “Bird” Chaney, the son of Henry Chaney, Jr and Evelyn Lucille (Roberts) Chaney, was born July 20, 1963, in Norwalk, California. He attended Tarkio High School, Tarkio, Missouri, graduating in 1982.

Scott was employed at Farmhand as a painter. He also worked for Ellis Construction and was a carpet layer in Grinnell, Iowa. Scott was then employed by National Beef Packers in Liberal, Kansas. He then worked for Mather Construction, Parshall Concrete, and American Recycling until ill health forced retirement.

Scott was a former member of the First Baptist Church, Tarkio. He enjoyed listening to music and spending time with friends and family. He also enjoyed sitting around bonfires with a cold drink in hand and barbeques. Scott loved watching football, especially the Kansas City Chiefs, throwing darts, playing Wii bowling, and watching fireworks on the 4^th of July. Scott passed away Sunday, January 1, 2023, at his home in Tarkio, at the age of 59.

Besides his parents, Scott was preceded in death by siblings, George Chaney, Roger Chaney, Larry Chaney, and Lyllis Johnson. Survivors include son, Dustin (Micah) Lambert, Highland, Kansas; grandchildren, RyLee, Collins, Jagger, and Kennidee; siblings, Phyllis Sipes, St. Joseph, Missouri, Marsha Chaney, Tarkio, Connie (Jay) Bowers, Farragut, Iowa, Sherry (Brent) Smith, Tarkio; best friend, Kema Pinzino, Tarkio; numerous nieces and nephews; fur baby, Patches Lucille.

Memorial Service: 1:00 P.M., Thursday, January 5, 2023, Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio.

There is no visitation.

Inurnment: Home Cemetery, Tarkio.

Memorials may be payable to Davis Funeral Home for final expenses.
