Sharen Dawn Carder, was born August 1,1943 in St. Joseph, Missouri, the daughter of Bryan Raud and Doris Markland Watts. Sharen passed away at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska on August 22, 2009 at the age of 66, following a six month battle with Acute Leukemia.

 

Sharen spent her early childhood years in St. Joseph. At the age of 8, following her father’s death in 1952, the family moved to Fortescue, Missouri, where she finished her elementary years in the Fortescue grade school. She attended Craig High School, graduating in 1961. Sharen was a member of the First Methodist Church at Fortescue.

 

She married Vernon Eugene Carder in February, 1961 and to this union three children were born, Kirbi Eugene in 1962, Kevin David in 1963 and Karen Dawn in 1968 .

 

Sharen was adopted by her stepfather, Quentin Goolsby in 1982 .

 

Sharen was employed at Community Hospital in Fairfax and Robert McCrory Insurance Agency in Mound City, Missouri. During the past several years, Sharen worked as a receptionist at the Fairfax Medical Clinic for Dr. James Hunter, and currently for Dr. Emerson Ireland. Her years of employment were spent in public service, where she met and retained many friends and acquaintances.

 

Sharen attended the United Methodist Church in Fairfax, had a strong faith and had accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior, which was demonstrated by her strength and perseverance during her illness. She was extremely devoted to her family and was a true friend to many.

 

Sharen is preceded by her father, Bryan R. Watts; paternal grandparents, Raud and Ola (Morton) Watts, maternal grandparents, Leon and Helen (Hinkle) Markland; stepfather, Quentin Goolsby and grandson, Nicholas Eugene Carder.

 

She is survived by her sons, Kirbi Eugene Carder, and his wife, Andrea, Rock Port, Missouri, Kevin David Carder, and his wife, Jolene, Tarkio, Missouri, daughter, Karen Dawn Burke, and her husband, Scott, Fairfax; grandchildren, Quentin and Marisa Carder, Elias, Trystan, MaKenna, Joey, and Ryan Carder, McKale, Daltyn and Darian Burke; mother, Doris Virginia Goolsby, Rock Port; sister, Karen Vawn Wanamaker, and her husband, Dr. John, Hamburg, Iowa; nephews, Brian and Shawn Ireland, Kansas City, Missouri and Steven Ireland, Omaha, and a host of friends.

 

Memorial Service: 10:00 am, Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at United Methodist Church, Fairfax.
Inurnment: English Grove Cemetery, Fairfax.
There is no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Community Hospital – Fairfax Building Fund.
