Sharon K. Greenwalt
1947-2017
Rock Port, Missouri

 

Sharon K. Greenwalt, the daughter of Robert Neal and Edith JoHanna (Blair) Gwin, was born May 9, 1947, in Longmont, Colorado. She attended school in Longmont and Eaton, Colorado, and graduated from Bayard, Nebraska, High School in 1965. Sharon also attended Junior College in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, graduating in 1967.

 

On June 4, 1967, Sharon was united in marriage to Dennis Greenwalt by Rev. Marshall at the United Methodist Church in Scottsbluff. They became the parents of 2 sons, Rob and Brad.

 

Sharon was employed by a real estate company in Scottsbluff and a municipal airport in Torrington, Wyoming. Following the birth of her first child, Sharon became a stay-at-home mom, raising and caring for her family. In 1982, they moved to Rock Port, Missouri, and in 1984, Sharon was employed as a teacher’s aide at Rock Port Elementary, retiring in 2008.

 

Sharon was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Rock Port, where she served as director of Adult Bell Choir, Sunday school teacher and pianist. She was a former member of Beta Sigma Phi, the Rock Port Pool Board and the Rock Port Senior Board. Sharon delivered meals on wheels and volunteered countless hours for many years at the Red Cross swimming lessons in Rock Port and enjoyed tending to her flower gardens. Sharon passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at Community Hospital-Fairfax, Fairfax, Missouri, at the age of 70.

 

In addition to her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by sister-in-law, Bev Gwin. Survivors include husband, Dennis Greenwalt, Rock Port; sons, Rob Greenwalt and wife, Marvetta, Independence, Missouri, and Brad Greenwalt and wife, Jennifer, Warrensburg, Missouri; four grandchildren, Tyler, Bryce, Kale and Summer; two brothers, Roger Gwin, Scottsbluff, and Robert Gwin and wife, Valerie, Kearney, Nebraska; one sister, JoAnn DeMaranville and husband, Lynn, Fort Collins, Colorado; brother-in-law, Kent Greenwalt and wife, Beverly, Terrytown, Nebraska; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M., Saturday, August 26, 2017, United Methodist Church, Rock Port.
Interment: Elmwood Cemetery, Rock Port.
Open visitation begins 9:00 A.M., Friday, Minter Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends from 9:30 – 10:30 A.M., Saturday, prior to the funeral service in the church fellowship hall.
