Sharon K. O’Laughlin, the daughter of Arthur Edward and Linnie I. (Ford) Adams was born June 5, 1943, in Buffalo, Missouri. Sharon graduated from Marshall High School in 1960, and received her Bachelor’s Degree from Missouri Valley College in 1964, both of Marshall, Missouri. Sharon then received her Master’s Degree in 1971 from Central Missouri State University, Warrensburg, Missouri.

On July 24, 1971, Sharon was united in marriage to Bernard O’Laughlin in Chillicothe, Missouri where they made their home. In 1973, they moved to their present home in Rock Port, Missouri, and became the parents of one daughter, Christy. Sharon passed away Thursday, October 3, 2013, at Community Hospital-Fairfax, Fairfax, Missouri, at the age of 70.

Sharon held numerous teaching positions within the junior high and high school grades throughout her educational career. She taught high school English in Shelbina, Missouri, from 1964 to 1970 and junior high English in Chillicothe from 1970 to 1973. Following their move to Rock Port, Sharon was employed by the Rock Port Schools, where she taught from 1975 to her retirement in 2001. While in Rock Port, she taught remedial reading, English, junior high science and senior research. She was a member of the Rock Port United Methodist Church and was very active in church missions and United Methodist Women. Sharon also was involved and devoted to many community and service organizations, holding various offices within Rock Port P.E.O. Chapter DU, Sorosis, Beta Sigma Phi, and was a charter member of Delta Kappa Gamma.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, Bernard, Rock Port; daughter, Christy O’Laughlin, Kearney, Missouri; sister, Bonnie Cooper, and her husband, Cecil, Knob Noster, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M., Monday, October 7, 2013, United Methodist Church, Rock Port.
Interment: 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, October 8, 2013, Shelbina Cemetery, Shelbina, Missouri.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-5:00 P.M., Sunday, October 6, 2013, Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.
