Shirley A. McCoy
1926-2014
Rock Port, Missouri

 

Shirley Ann McCoy, the daughter of Cecil Herbert and Gertrude (Story) Waits was born October 12, 1926, in Fairfax, Missouri. She attended Fairfax High School, graduating in 1944. Shirley attended Business College in Chillicothe, Missouri, for one year.

 

On June 20, 1947, Shirley was united in marriage to Jack J. McCoy at the Rock Port Christian Church, Rock Port, Missouri. They became the parents of two children, Donna Ann and Roger Jay. They made their home southeast of Rock Port their entire married life.

 

Shirley was employed at Atchison-Holt Electric Cooperative as a bookkeeper for two years. She was a member of the Rock Port United Methodist Church, the Hob Nob Club in Fairfax and the Ralph Greer American Legion Auxiliary Unit #49, Rock Port. Shirley had a passion for sewing and made many of hers and Donna’s clothes for several years. She also enjoyed embroidery and reading. Jack passed away December 28, 2008. Shirley passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Rock Port, at the age of 88.

 

Besides her parents and husband, Jack, Shirley was preceded in death by grandson, John McCoy; two sisters, Phyllis Waits and Lois Waits Cohen; brother, Harold Waits and wife, Lorraine; brothers-in-law, Lawrence Kish and wife, Dorothy, Willis McCoy and wife, Mevelyn, and Lee Edward McCoy and wife, Margery. Survivors include children, Donna Wasserfallen and husband, David, Wellsville, Kansas, and Roger Jay McCoy and wife, Joannie, Rock Port; six grandchildren, Lois, Jackie, James, Jacob, Janette and Lisa; thirteen great-grandchildren, Emily, Zachary Martin, Kristin, Kara, Kristofer, William, Wyatt, Jamie, Riley, Chevy, Kelly, Julia and Zachary Wendele; two great-great-grandchildren, Jack Michael and Tavyn; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

Funeral Service: 2:00 P.M., Friday, January 2, 2015, Rock Port United Methodist Church.
Interment: Grange Hall Cemetery, Rock Port.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 P.M., Friday, prior to the service, at the Rock Port United Methodist Church.
