Shirley Lea (Walker) True, the daughter of Arville and Mildred (Cooper) Walker, was born November 9, 1932 in Langdon, Missouri. She graduated from Rock Port High School in 1950.

 

On March 27, 1954, Shirley was united in marriage to A. J. Barnhart, they made their home and farmed northwest of Rock Port and became the parents of two daughters; Joni and Jill.  A. J. passed away October 11, 1979.  On February 5, 1981, Shirley was united in marriage to Jerome True. They made their home in Rock Port to the present time. Shirley was a loving mom and homemaker as well as an excellent bookkeeper for the family farming operation and True Ag. She maintained a very meticulous and orderly way throughout her lifetime and in all her endeavors, being highly efficient and organized. Shirley passed away Friday, April 19, 2019, at Community Hospital-Fairfax, Fairfax, Missouri at the age of 86.

 

Shirley was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Rock Port. She loved to play bridge and belonged to several bridge clubs. She also enjoyed traveling; her favorite place was their home at the Lake of the Ozarks.  However her family was most important and she loved having them visit.  The beauty of her flower gardens and watching birds brought her great joy.

 

Besides her parents and husband, A. J., she was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Walker, and brother-in-law, Richard Garst.  Survivors include her husband, H. Jerome True, Rock Port; children, Joni True and her husband, Ted, Rock Port, and Jill Niece and her husband, Paul, Maysville, Missouri; Beth True, Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren, Nathan Alitz, Micah Alitz, Ashley Alitz, Dustin Sapp, Tyrel Sapp, Eric Niece, Heather Misemer, Josh True, T. J. True; sixteen great grandchildren; sister, Jeanne (Jerry Hawk) Garst, Rock Port; sister-in-law, Pat Walker, Rock Port, and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral Service:  10:30 A.M., Wednesday, April 24, 2019, First Lutheran Church, Rock Port.

Interment:  Elmwood Cemetery, Rock Port

Open visitation begins 9:00 A.M., Tuesday, Minter Funeral Chapel, where family will receive friends 6:00-7:00 P.M.

Memorials:  First Lutheran Church or Rock Port Nutrition Center
