Steven Herman Hoffrogge was born January 20, 1945 in Tracy, Minnesota to Henry S. and Avis A. (Flesner) Hoffrogge. His schooling began in Revere, Minnesota, but after the family moved to Tarkio, Missouri in 1954, he attended Tarkio Elementary and Tarkio High School, graduating in 1964.

Steven enlisted in the United States Navy and served on the USS Forrestal during the catastrophic fire in 1967. He received his honorable discharge.

Steven worked numerous jobs before being employed for Missouri Highway Patrol as a Commercial Vehicle Inspector, Supervisor II for the weigh station south of Hamburg, Iowa, until retiring.

Steven was actively involved with Allen Schiffern American Legion Post #199, Tarkio, serving as the Adjutant and Finance Officer for numerous years. He was also an avid golfer and had a huge golf collection. Steven passed away Friday, August 4, 2023, at his home in Tarkio, at the age of 78.

Besides his parents, Steven was proceeded in death by brothers, Ricky and Gordon Hoffrogge, sister, Karen Hoffrogge; nephews, Brockton Perry, Brian Perry, Donald Perry, and David Hoffrogge, nieces, Taylor Heilman and Kerry Heilman. Survivors include sisters, Donna (Dwight) Perry, Watson, Missouri and Rebecca Mertz, Troy, Illinois, as well as numerous nephews and nieces.

Celebration of Life: 1:00 P.M., Saturday, November 11, 2023, American Legion Building, Tarkio.

Military Honors under the auspices of Allen Schiffern American Legion Post #199, Tarkio.

There is no visitation.

Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.

Memorials: Alzheimer’s Association.

Cremation Arrangements: Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio.
