Susan J. “Susie” Shaw, the daughter of Charles Washie and Helen Louise (Batson) Hines was born July 30, 1946, in Hamburg, Iowa. She attended school in Nishnabotna, Missouri, and Rock Port, Missouri.

On August 15, 1982, Susie was united in marriage to Harry Preston Shaw, at their home, southeast of Fairfax, Missouri.

Susie was employed as a nurse’s aide at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Rock Port, Missouri, and as a homemaker for the elderly with St. Francis Hospital, Maryville, Missouri. Susie recently was a bus driver and cook for Atchison County Headstart, Rock Port. Susie passed away Sunday, August 25, 2013, at Community Hospital-Fairfax, Fairfax, Missouri.

Besides her parents, Susie was preceded in death by two sisters, Phyllis Ann and Iva Fern Hines; and two brothers, Ronald and Charlie Hines. Survivors include husband, Harry, of the home; children, Beverly Bowman and husband, James, Sioux City, Iowa, James Gilpin, Patty Clark and husband, David, Harry Wooten and wife, Terry, all of Fairfax; step-children, Louis Shaw and wife, Naomi, Fairfax and Brenda Harber, Tarkio, Missouri; seventeen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Junior Hines and wife, Barbara, Billy Hines and wife, Sharon, all of Tarkio, and LeRoy “Butch” Hines and wife, Alice, Schuyler, Nebraska; and sister, Roberta “Faye” Hines, Tarkio.

Funeral Service: 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, August 28, 2013, Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio, Missouri.
Interment: English Grove Cemetery, Fairfax.
Open visitation will begin 9:00 A.M., Tuesday, August 27, 2013, Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio, where the family will receive friends that evening from 6:00-7:00 P.M.
