Thomas P. Proudfit, the son of Thomas Peter, Sr. and Alice Marie (Million) Proudfit, was born November 29, 1943, in Hamburg, Iowa. He attended Watson High School, Watson, Missouri, graduating in 1961. On March 30, 1965, Tom entered the United States Navy, serving our country until receiving his honorable discharge on April 29, 1969.

 

Tom was a farmer and took care of the family farm south of Watson. Later, he attended Peru State College, Peru, Nebraska, where he double majored in Business Administration Accounting and Business Administration Management and received his Bachelor’s degree with high distinction in 1996.

 

Tom was an active member of the Watson Baptist Church where he served in many roles over his lifetime.  He touched many lives in his time there from teaching Sunday School, being superintendent of the community wide vacation bible school, to recently serving as chairman of the church board.

 

Several years ago, Tom moved to Fair Oaks Senior Housing in Rock Port.  Tom thoroughly enjoyed his neighbors and the community there.  Tom passed away Saturday, July 27, 2024, in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 80.

 

Tom was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include cousins, Peggy Ingram, Orville Lee, Gene Million, and Sharon Mitchell.

 

Funeral Service: 11:00 A.M., Friday, August 2, 2024, Watson Baptist Church, Watson, Missouri.

Open visitation begins 9:00 A.M., Thursday, August 1, Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port, Missouri. There is no scheduled family visitation.

Interment: High Creek Cemetery, Watson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Watson Baptist Church, Watson.

Arrangements: Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.
