Trudy J Redfern
1945-2019
Trudy Jean (Hays) Redfern was born January 21, 1945 in Peru, Nebraska to June and Louise (Adams) Hays. The family moved to Watson, Missouri where Trudy graduated from Watson High School in 1963. She had a long career at State Farm Insurance in the Kansas City area as well as attending college classes and continuing education throughout her adult life.
On June 20, 1965, Trudy was united in marriage to James William Redfern. They became the parents of two children, Mark and Niki.
Trudy had a passion for working. She helped so many people throughout her career in the claims department and then on the catastrophe team. Trudy was an amazing mom. She was involved in all aspects of her kids’ lives as they were growing up and certainly continued into their adulthood. Once her grandchildren were brought into the world, everything else came second. She attended every event possible for each grandchild and was each one of their “person”. Trudy was helpful, selfless, and generous to all of her family, including brothers, sisters, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and anyone who needed anything. Trudy was an animal lover and had the crazy ability to tame the untamable. She also enjoyed golfing. Trudy passed away Monday, November 18, 2019 at the age of 74.
Besides her parents, Trudy was preceded in death by brother, Floyd Hays, sister, Mary Bowman, mother-in-law, Allie Redfern and granddaughter, Charley Hutsler. Those left to mourn her passing include her husband, Jim Redfern; son, Mark (Tracey) Redfern; daughter, Niki Goodrich; granddaughters, Emma Goodrich, Rachel Redfern, Ava Goodrich; grandsons, Adam Goodrich, Tyler Redfern, Joey Redfern; brothers, Jimmy Hays, John Hays, Paul Hays; sisters, Winnie Reed, Ilene Harmon, Janet Kester, Paula Calhoun and Janice Giitter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
