Velma Marie (Culver) Hall, the daughter of Harvey S. and Dora S. (Justus) Culver, was born to life April 29, 1918 in Burlington Junction, Missouri. On February 19, 1938, she was united in marriage to Verna Hall and they celebrated 51 years together. Velma was a lifelong resident of Northwest Missouri.

 

Velma was an avid reader. Her family recalls her love of dancing, cooking, sewing and doing all types of crafts, especially the numerous quilts made and given to family and friends. She made lap quilts and donated them to the Fairfax Hospital and Northview Manor. She was a member and served as President of the Tarkio American Legion Auxiliary. Velma was born to eternity on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at LaVerna Village Nursing Home in Savannah, Missouri.

 

Besides her parents, Velma is preceded in death by her loving husband, Verna Hall; daughter, Evelyn Lewis; son-in-law, Ben Stevens; one brother, Floyd Culver; and two sisters, Marjorie Culver and Darlene Hogue.

 

She leaves behind two daughters, Shirley Hanna and her husband, Larry, Joplin, Missouri and Ginny Stevens, Jacksonville, Florida; six grandchildren, Dan Stevens and his wife, Rhonda, Kelly Butner, Jason French and his wife, Kim, Wendi Lewis; four great-grandchildren, Ali Stevens, Hannah Butner, T.J. and Kyle French; sister, Betty Reed and her husband, Ferman, Maryville, Missouri; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

 

Services: 11:00 am, Monday, December 7, 2009, Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio.
Interment: Center Grove Cemetery, Westboro, Missouri.
Visitation: 10:00 am to 10:50 am prior to the service at Davis
Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Hands of Hope Hospice, St. Joseph,
Missouri.
