Verna Elizabeth (Owen) Wolf , the daughter of Clarence and Dora (Oslin) Owen, was born February 18, 1920 in Rock Port, Missouri. She attended Rock Port rural schools and graduated from Rock Port High School in 1937. In her early working years, she was employed at the ASCS., and later with the KFNF Radio Station as a radio engineer.

On December 29, 1940, Verna was united in marriage to Orville K. Wolf at the Centennial United Methodist Church by the Rev. J.L. Walrafen. They made their home and farmed on the Tollie Wolf family farm and became the parents of one daughter, Phyllis. Following Orville’s return in 1945 from serving in the United States Army during World War II, they purchased the Richards farm, where they resided most of their married life.

Verna was a wonderful homemaker, who enjoyed cooking and gardening. She was very artistic and created many lovely paintings on canvas, wood and saws. One of her greatest joys was music. She loved to sing and play the piano. Verna was a charter member of the Sweet Adelines and was a member of the Wolf quartet. She was a faithful member of the Linden Christian Church, where she taught Sunday School, was church treasurer and also played the piano. She was a member of the Linden Ladies Aid and the Lone Cedar Club. In later years, Orville and Verna found another joy; traveling extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia, including Germany, France, Italy, Norway, Sweden, the Phillipines, Hong Kong, China, Japan and Korea. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren. She spent time with her grandchildren, nieces and nephews, taking them fishing and playing games.

Verna passed away on August 15, 2007 at the Pleasant View Rest Home in Rock Port at the age of 87 years.

Survivors include her daughter, Phyllis and her husband Tony, Rock Port; three grandchildren, Michael McKenney and wife Tricia, Bedford, Iowa, Mark McKenney and wife Christi, Rock Port, Anna Plattner and husband Randy, Marshall, Missouri; six greatgrandchildren, Jacob McKenney, Clara Joy McKenney, Kade Plattner, Montana Plattner, Ariana McKenney, Breana McKenney; sister, Jean McLain, Tuscon, Arizona; brother-in-law, Donald Wolf, Rock Port.
