Virginia Dare Kerr
1926-2011
Cross Timbers, Missouri

 

Virginia Dare (White) Kerr, the daughter of Newton Johnson and Emma Frances (Foster) White was born on September 24, 1926 in Charley, Texas. Virginia attended rural schools in Maud, Texas.

 

Virginia was united in marriage to Donald Kerr on July 31, 1943 in Reno, Nevada. They made their home in numerous different states, following Don’s construction work, before settling in Fairfax, Missouri, where they owned and operated Kerr’s Supermarket. After retiring in 1986, they moved to Mount Vernon, Missouri, to be closer to their family. Virginia passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at St. Johns Hospital, Springfield, Missouri at the age of 84.

 

Virginia loved to crochet and spend time visiting with her family and friends. She was a former member of the Fairfax Chapter #373 Order of the Eastern Star and played in the Ladies Card Club.

 

Besides her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Kerr; daughter, Darlene Paylor, grandchildren, Robert Burgess, Jr., Donnie Burgess, Lisa Marie Davis and Eric Tyler Kerr; three brothers; and one sister. Survivors include, daughters, Sheila Burgess and husband, Bob, Cross Timbers, Missouri and Joetta Hicks and husband, Dan, Fairfax; sons, Clarence Kerr, Cross Timbers, and Les Kerr and wife, Brenda, Kansas City, Missouri; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister; and two brothers.

 

Services: 11:00 A.M, Saturday, September 17, 2011 at the First Lutheran Church, Rock Port, Missouri.
Interment: Linden Cemetery, Rock Port.
The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 A.M, Saturday, September 17, 2011 at the First Lutheran Church.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be directed to the Kidney Foundation or American Cancer Society.
