Virginia M. Scott, the daughter of Glenn H. and Herma Jane (Christian) Scott, was born July 10, 1918 on the Scott Family Farm northeast of Tarkio, Missouri. She attended Center Point country school and graduated from Tarkio High School in 1936. She then graduated from Chillicothe School of Business in 1938.

On January 10, 1941 she was united in marriage Carl Eugene Thomas in Girard, Kansas. They made their home on the family farm. In the early 1950’s they moved to Kansas City, Missouri, and then to Raytown, Missouri, where Virginia was employed by the United States Treasury Department in Kansas City, Missouri. Following Retiring in the early 1970’s they moved back to Tarkio and then to St. Joseph, Missouri in the early 1990’s. Virginia passed away December 10, 2009 at Nodaway Nursing Home, Maryville, at the age of 91 years.

Virginia was a lifetime member of the Tarkio Baptist Church and a former member of the Auxiliary of the Allen-Schiffern American Legion Post #199 in Tarkio.

Besides her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband in 1981 and one daughter Beverly Sager. Survivors include one daughter, Jan Tramel and her companion David Degase, Maryville, one son, Scott E. Thomas and his wife Brenda, Harrisonville, Missouri; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
