Vivian L. Boettner
1923-2015
Elkhorn, Nebraska

 

Vivian Lucile (Rosenbohm) Boettner was born on September 7, 1923. She was the daughter of John and Emma (Tiemeyer) Rosenbohm. She passed away on January 11, 2015 in Elkhorn, Nebraska at the age of 91.

 

Vivian attended Benton country school and graduated from Rock Port High School in 1941. She attended Midland College for a short time before her marriage to high school sweetheart, Charles Boettner on October 30, 1943 in a small chapel in Tucson, Arizona where Charles was attending pilot training. The first years of their marriage were spent moving to eight air force bases while Charles served in the Army Air Corps.

 

While Charles was serving overseas, Vivian lived with her parents until his return in 1945. They lived on the Boettner family farm for 68 years before moving to Rock Port in the spring of 2011 and then again to Elkridge Village in Elkhorn, Nebraska in the summer of 2012.

 

Vivian was a life-long member of the Lutheran Church. She served as a member of the women’s circle. She was a member of the Lone Cedar Club, a 4-H leader, and an inactive member of Chapter DU of P.E.O. She liked being a homemaker, traveling, gardening, playing bridge, playing her organ and especially enjoyed the activities of her grandchildren.

 

Besides her parents, Vivian was preceded in death by husband, Charles, son-in-law Mike Melies, brothers-in-law Cecil VanMeter and J.D. Barr.

 

Survivors include three daughters, Anita (Herb) Sutter, Fairfax, Missouri, Vicki Melies, Elkhorn and Jackie (Chuck) Perry, Sidney, Iowa; six grandchildren, Dayne Sutter, Rock Port, Jennifer (Troy) LaHue, Rock Port, Tim (Leslie) Sutter, Fairfax, Nicole Perry, Council Bluffs, Iowa, Brian (Erin) Perry, Omaha, Nebraska and Molly (Nick) Thompson, also of Omaha; ten great-grandchildren, Ashley Eichstadt, Eli Perry, Grady Thompson, Jovie Thompson, Kalen LaHue, Cortney LaHue, Halle Sutter, Jordan Sutter, Kamron (Crystal) Woodring and Sierra (Matthew) Kirkpatrick; three great great-grandchildren, Everett Kirkpatrick, Payton Woodring and Parker Woodring; her sister Helen VanMeter, Olathe, Kansas and sister-in-law, Myna Lee Barr of Liberty, Nebraska.

 

Memorial Service: 10:00 A.M., Friday, January 16, 2015, First Lutheran Church, Rock Port.
Inurnment: Grange Hall Cemetery, Rock Port.
The family will receive friends from 9:00-10:00 A.M., Friday, prior to the service, at First Lutheran Church.
