W. Dean Amthor
1922 – 2011
Tarkio, Missouri

 

Warren Dean Amthor was born to Harry Harvey and Marie Elizabeth (Hartman) Amthor on March 29, 1922, in Rock Port, Missouri. He attended Rock Port Elementary for three years, Loss Grove Country School until 8th grade, and graduated from Tarkio High School in 1940.

 

Dean farmed all of his life in the Tarkio area, and had a hog operation that he loved. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Rock Port, Missouri, served on the Church Council, and enjoyed woodworking and making furniture.

 

Dean passed away Thursday, April 28, 2011, at his home in Tarkio, at the age of 89 years.

 

Dean was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Henry Amthor. His survivors include his sister, Phyllis Clark, Tarkio; brother, Larry J. Amthor and his wife, Anne, Tarkio; nieces and nephews, Steve Clark, Nancy Hughes, Connie Johnson, Barry Amthor, Corey Amthor, Jeff, David and Robert Hill; numerous great-nieces and nephews; and caregivers, Melissa McAdams, Laura Schaefer, Karen Williams, Sharon Hughes, Ashley Marriott, Jordan Wallace, Kelsey Williams, Holly Gray, Amber Bywater, Jessica Merriett, Rachelle Brown, Ruth Campbell, Megan Hughes Capps, Darci Morey, Margie Ropp, Joanna Driskell, Pam Blackman and Shannon Stanfield.

 

Services: 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 30, 2011, Tarkio Presbyterian Church, Tarkio.
Interment: Greenhill Cemetery, Rock Port.
The Family Will Receive Friends: Prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 1:50 p.m., on Saturday, April 30, 2011, at Tarkio Presbyterian Church.
Memorials: Kendallwood Hospice or Tarkio Nutrition Center.
