Walter E. “Trick” Shandy passed away December 17, 2011, at the age of 83 in his home at the Fair Oaks apartments of Rock Port. Walter E. Shandy was born raised and lived his entire life in Phelps City, MO. It wasn’t until the flood of 2011 that Walter moved to the high ground of Rock Port, MO.

Walt was born October 7, 1928, to Phillip and Marie (Vanderslice) Shandy. On November 26, 1949, he was united in marriage to Georgia Hendrickson. They were blessed with two children Wayne Shandy and Connie (Shandy) Bottoni.

Walter was known as Trick to many of his relatives and friends. Brick and block mason was his trade that built many a wall and countless friendships through the years. He took great pride in his work and could point out many structures around the county that he had worked on. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and being with friends at Hoot Owl Bend on the Missouri River. In retirement, Walt enjoyed raising a garden and selling the produce at the local Farmers Market. The last few years Walter enjoyed anyone who stopped by to have a cold one with him and always had a story and a smile for them. He recently accepted Jesus Christ and was very proud of this. Walter loved his family and enjoyed many family reunions in Missouri and California that were always full of new and old adventures.

Walter is survived by his son Wayne and wife Connie Shandy of Rock Port, MO. Daughter Connie and husband Ron Bottoni of Rochester, NY. Granddaughter Stephanie (Shandy) and husband Matthew Dearmont of Rock Port, MO. Granddaughter Beth (Bottoni) and husband Kevin Fulkerson and great granddaughter Myra Fulkerson all of Spenserport, NY. Grandson Angelo and wife Felicia Bottoni of Oakland, CA. Sister Joyce (Shandy) and husband Ralph Asher of Hemit, CA; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins who he was close to and loved seeing at family reunions.

Walter was preceded in death by his wife Georgia, his grandson Wesley Shandy, his sister Naomi (Shandy) Mahue, brothers J.W. Shandy, Gordon, Don and Calvin Shandy.

Services: There are no scheduled services. The body has been cremated.
Inurnment: A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
Visitation: The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 20, 2011, from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.
