Wava was a member of the Rock Port Baptist Church, and a ‘Red Hatter’ of the local ‘Red Hat Society’; often seen in the crowds of ladies in red hats and purple attire. She and Duane traveled extensively across the United States with good friends, Jake and Betty McCall.

Wava was a skilled seamstress, an avid reader, a talented poet, a proficient puzzle solver and marvelous cook who especially enjoyed entertaining the family and playing games with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
