Wilbur Dean Hannah, the son of Frank and Mina (Thompson) Hannah, was born September 3, 1926. He attended country school east of Tarkio and Tarkio High School. Wilbur served his country as a Seabee in the United States Navy during World War II. On February 1, 1947, he was united in marriage to Frieda Vivian Kirk in Hiawatha, Kansas. They became the parents of two daughters, Nancy and Janet. They lived and farmed east of Tarkio their entire married life.
Wilbur enjoyed farming, watching his cows, going to sales, visiting with people and his greatest joy was being with his family and watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren grow. Wilbur was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tarkio, where he served as a Deacon, Greeter and the “Candyman” in the church. He was also a member of the Allen-Schiffern American Legion Post #199, Tarkio.
Wilbur had been a resident of the Tarkio Rehabilitation and Health Care where he enjoyed visiting and playing bingo with the other residents. Wilbur went to be with his Heavenly Father on April 28, 2011 at the age of 84 years.
Besides his parents, Wilbur was preceded in death by his wife, Frieda, four brothers and one sister. Survivors include his daughters, Nancy Comtois and her husband, Rene, Independence, Missouri, Janet Wennihan and her husband, Fred, Tarkio; three grandchildren, Amy Windes and her husband, Jason, Independence, John Wennihan and his wife, Beth, and Allen Wennihan, all of Tarkio; five great grandchildren, Braiden, Brooklyn and Bailey Wennihan, Carter Wennihan and Evan Windes.
Services: 1:30 p.m., Monday, May 2, 2011, at First Baptist Church, Tarkio.
Interment: Home Cemetery, Tarkio.
The Family Will Receive Friends: From 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, May 1, 2011, at Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio.
Memorials: First Baptist Church, Tarkio, or Allen-Schiffern American Legion Post #199.
Military Rites under the auspices of Allen-Schiffern American Legion Post #199, Tarkio.
