William Roy (Bill) Shirk
1938-2006

William R. (Bill) Shirk, 68 of Independence, MO, passed away at his home surrounded by family.

Memorial services will be at 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 8, 2006 at Parklawn Funeral Home. Friends may call from 5:00-7:00 Friday at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to NorthCare Hospice, 2800 Clay Edward Dr. , North Kansas City, MO 64116 or the ALS Association, 8340 Mission Rd. Suite B4, Prairie Village, Kansas 66206.

Bill is survived by wife Sheila (Pitner) of the home, son Bill and Kim Shirk of Lee’s Summit, MO, daughters Tracy and George Itnyre of Pleasant Hill, MO, and Kathy Cox of Pleasant Hill, MO. Four step-sons, Tim and Cindy Uebele of Carrolton, TX, David and Gloria Uebele of Shatleigh, ME, Todd and Sandy Uebele of Lee’s Summit, MO, Dan and Kathy Uebele of Pleasant Hill, MO, brother Stephen Shirk of Kansas City, MO, 17 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, sisters-in-law Sharron and husband Ronnie Brown, Tarkio, MO, Sheleen and husband Butch Gayler, Rock Port, MO, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, William H. Shirk, mother Helen, sisters Peggy Jones and Patty Smith.

Bill was blessed with many new and long-time friends. After serving in the Navy, Bill became a teamster working for Safeway, Food Barn and Fleming Foods. Bill retired with 30 years in Local 955. After retirement, Bill worked part-time for the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority.
