William Curtis Siddens, the son of William Harvey and Ina Mae (Kirk) Siddens, was born February 16, 1948 in Hamburg, Iowa. He attended Rock Port High School, Rock Port, Missouri, graduating in 1966. Curtis then graduated from an Omaha, Nebraska, technical school as an automotive mechanic. Upon returning to Rock Port, Curtis was employed as a mechanic by Conley Bennington Chevrolet. From 1973 to 1978, he was employed by Jake McCall, at Jake’s Towing and Repair in Rock Port. Curtis then operated his own automotive repair shop for a number of years. In 1985 he was employed by Ronnie Bennington at Bennington’s Auto Service until 2006. He retired in 2008.

 

On January 11, 1968, Curtis was united in marriage to Dena Mae Brown at the United Methodist Church in Hamburg, Iowa. They made their home in and around the Rock Port community. They became the parents of one son, Curtis Shayne. In 2005 they moved to Dena’s family farm north of Rock Port where Curtis lived at the present time. Dena passed away in 2007. Curt passed away, Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 62 years.

 

Curtis was a 14 year active chairman of the Operation Jason Fishing Derby. He had a heart of gold and would do all he could to help someone in need. He enjoyed hanging out at Hoot Owl Bend with all his “River Rat” friends, tinkering in his garage, and going to Lincoln to visit his sister-in-law, Carolyn.

 

Besides his parents and loving wife Dena, Curtis was preceded in death by his father and mother- in-law, Jean and Mary Brown. Survivors include his son Shayne Siddens and his wife Samantha, Rock Port; sister-in-law, Carolyn Price, and numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, cousins and friends.

Interment: Grange Hall Cemetery, Rock Port
Visitation: The family will receive friends Sunday, January 23, 2011, 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm at Minter Funeral Chapel Rock Port.
