William E. “Bill” Lingerfelt, Jr., the son of William Earl, Sr. and Doris Mae (Case) Lingerfelt, was born August 14, 1955, in Fairfax, Missouri. He attended Rock Port High School, Rock Port, Missouri, graduating in 1973. On June 19, 1973, Bill entered the United States Air Force and proudly served his country for three years, receiving his honorable discharge on June 4, 1976.

On June 7, 1974, Bill was united in marriage to Janet Sue Harrington in Hiawatha, Kansas, and they became the parents of three children, Nicole, Matthew and Lacy.

After returning from military service, Bill was employed by Eaton Corporation in Shenandoah, Iowa, for 23 years. While at Eaton’s, he also worked as a part-time mail carrier in Elmo, Missouri, on Saturdays. Following his retirement from Eaton’s, Bill was employed at the Rock Port Post Office, carrying mail until his health forced his retirement in November 2014.

Bill was a member of the Allen-Schiffern American Legion Post #199, Tarkio. He hosted local “Fishin’ 4 Fun” tournaments, for 14 years, which assisted local individuals with medical expenses. Bill loved to hunt, fish and camp and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and looked forward to mushroom season every year. Bill passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at his home in Rock Port at the age of 59.

Besides his father, Bill was preceded in death by father-in-law, Wayne Harrington. Survivors include wife, Janet, Rock Port; children, Nicole Greene and husband, Aaron, Rock Port, Matthew William Lingerfelt and wife, Anna, Lenox, Iowa, and Lacy May Maifeld and husband, Mike, Rock Port; ten grandchildren, Andrew, Brook, Caden, Kale, Dillan, Treyton, Tanner, Caleb, Jada and Addison; mother, Doris Lingerfelt, Rock Port; three sisters, Wanda Malin and husband, Hal, Fenton, Missouri, Roxanne Wagner and husband, Mark, and Marian Bokoskie and husband, John, all of North Platte, Nebraska; mother-in-law, Dorothy Harrington, Fairfax; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside Service and Interment: 11:00 A.M., Saturday, May 16, 2015, Hunter Cemetery, Rock Port.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 P.M., Friday, May 15, 2015, at Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.
