William Earl Lingerfelt, Sr., was born October 2, 1931 in Hamburg, Iowa to William Marion and Katherine Amanda (Pruitt) Lingerfelt. He graduated from Rock Port High School, Rock Port, Missouri. In 1952, Bill joined the United States Army and was a member of the 101st Airborne Division. After proudly serving his country during the Korean War, Bill received his honorable discharge in 1954.

On March 12, 1955, Bill was united in marriage to Doris Mae Case in Hamburg, Iowa and they became the parents of four children. Bill and Doris celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary this past March. Bill drove a truck for Trans America trucking firm and worked on the Meriwether Lewis steamboat river dredge. He then became employed with Consolidated Freightways trucking firm, retiring after 20 years of service.

Bill was a member of the Ralph Greer American Legion Post # 49, Rock Port and loved spending time with his family. He passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at Bryan LGH East Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 78 years.

Besides his parents, Bill is preceded in death by sisters, Leota Albee, Gladys Curtis and infant sister, Leatrice Joy Lingerfelt and one brother, Grover Lingerfelt.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Lingerfelt, Rock Port; children, William Earl Lingerfelt, Jr. and his wife Janet, Rock Port, Wanda Gayle Malin and her husband Hal, Fenton, Missouri, Kathy Roxanne Wagner and her husband Mark, and Marian Louise Bokoskie and her husband John, all of North Platte, Nebraska; fourteen grandchildren, Nikki Greene and her husband Aaron, Matt Lingerfelt and his fiancé Anna, Lacy Maifield and her husband Mike, Angie Price, Abby Miller, Casey Miller, Levi Miller, Eric Wagner, Amber Wagner, Melissa Harmon and her husband Dave, Josh Bokoskie and his wife Sarah, Justin Bokoskie and his wife Christa, Heather Bokoskie, Brooke Bokoskie; sixteen great grandchildren, Andrew and Caden Lingerfelt, Brookelynn Watts, Dillan Meyer, Treyton, Tanner and Caleb Greene, Jada and Addison Maifield, Maleighya Harmon, Kourtnie Bokoskie, Jaekob Bokoskie, Briana, Larry, Tyler and Chase Price; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

Services:
2:00 pm, Friday, June 18, 2010, United Methodist Church, Rock Port.
Interment: Utterback Cemetery, Riverton, Iowa.
The family will receive friends Thursday, June 17, 2010 from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.
