William Eugene “Bill” Smith, the son of Leland Wilson and Donna Maurie (Jones) Smith, was born January 13, 1968, in Fairfax, Missouri. He graduated from Tarkio High School, Tarkio, Missouri, in 1986.

In 1993, Bill was united in marriage to Michelle Laughlin. They became the parents of Greg, Tim and Nathan. They were later divorced. On May 17, 2005, Bill was united in marriage to Kimberly Gossett and lived in Tarkio to the present time.

Bill was employed by Eaton Corporation, Shenandoah, Iowa, for 13 years. He was a manager at Trails End for eight years. Bill was currently employed as a forklift operator by Cargill in Nebraska City, Nebraska, for the past five years. Bill passed away Sunday, May 11, 2014, at his home in Tarkio, at the age of 46.

Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Donna Smith. Survivors include wife, Kimberly Smith, Tarkio; three sons, Greg Smith, Tarkio, Tim and Nathan Smith, Macon, Georgia; three stepchildren, Michael Wright, Lincoln, Nebraska, Samantha and Sabrina Wright, Tarkio; father, Leland Smith, Tarkio; one brother, Wayne Smith and wife, Amy; one sister, Lisa Gish and husband, Danny, all of Tarkio; uncle, Robert M. “Bob” Smith and wife, Jeana, Shenandoah, Iowa; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial Service:
4:00 P.M., Thursday, May 22, 2014, First Christian Church, Tarkio.
There is no visitation or inurnment.
