Wilma Jean Walter, the daughter of Lester Hillard and Florence Kathryn (Scott) Kerr was born September 16, 1931, in Thurman, Iowa. She attended rural Rock Port country schools and Rock Port High School, Rock Port, Missouri, graduating in 1950.

On August 20, 1952, Wilma was united in marriage to Keith E. Walter at the Rock Port Baptist Church. A short time later, they moved to Long Beach, California, where she lived to the present time. Keith passed away September 5, 2004.

Wilma was very active in the family business of street sweeping and apartment and housing rentals in the Los Angeles, California, area. Wilma and Keith enjoyed camping and driving their motor home throughout the western United States and between California and Missouri. Wilma passed away Thursday, October 30, 2014, at Windsor Gardens Convalescent Center, Long Beach, at the age of 83.

Besides her parents and husband, Wilma was preceded in death by brother, Marvin Kerr and wife, Judy, and sister-in-law, Ruth Bogenreif and husband, Keith, and brother-in-law, Duane Lytle. Survivors include daughter, Renae Dillon and husband, Patrick, Long Beach; sons, Lyle and Bryan Walter, Long Beach; Kevin Walter, Quartz Hill, California; grandchildren, Patti Spada and husband, Ralph, Huntington Beach, California, Melissa Dillon and husband, Vinnie, Seal Beach, California, and Travis Walter, Quartz Hill; three great-grandchildren, Grace, Clark and Ray Spada; sister, Wava June Lytle, Rock Port; and brother-in-law, John Walter and wife, Martha, Grandview, Missouri.

Graveside Funeral Service and Interment: 2:00 P.M., Saturday, November 8, 2014, Linden Cemetery, Rock Port.
Open visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M., Friday, November 7, 2014, at Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port. There is no scheduled family visitation.
