Wilma Mae (Troupe) Johnson, the daughter of Earl Eugene and Flora Marie (Gerdes) Troupe was born in Plattsmouth, Nebraska on November 26, 1931. She attended the Westboro, Missouri Schools in her youth, graduating from Tarkio High School, Tarkio, Missouri in 1950. Wilma then attended Tarkio College for one year.

 

On August 18, 1951, Wilma was united in marriage to Raymond Johnson at the First Presbyterian Church, Tarkio, Missouri. They made their home on her family farm where she lived the remainder of her life. Wilma was a devoted farmer’s wife and helped her husband with all the demands of farming and raising all kinds of critters. Raymond passed away in 1987. Wilma passed away Friday, January 31, 2014, at King City Manor, King City, Missouri at the age of 82.

 

Wilma was the caretaker of Center Grove Cemetery for many years. She also worked as the secretary for the Tarkio United Methodist Church and later was employed in night receiving at Wal-Mart, Shenandoah, Iowa. Wilma was a member of the Center Grove Cemetery Board, The London Club, Atchison Holt Ambulance District Board, a local and district officer of the United Methodist Women, organizer for the annual Lord’s Acre Day of Westboro, member and officer of the Westboro American Legion Auxiliary, Girl Scout leader, 4-H leader, and a member of the Westboro Lion’s Club. Wilma held the honor of being one of the first EMTs in the Tarkio, Westboro area. She took great pride in contributing to her community and church through many activities for numerous years.

 

Besides her parents and husband, Wilma was preceded in death by son-in-law, Stephen Miller and half- brother, Alfred Troupe. Survivors include, daughter, Jane Miller, Northboro, Iowa; three grandchildren, Amy Muller, Emily Parker, Justin Riggins; six great-grandchildren, Andrea Muller, Brittany Parker, Chase Parker, Maximillan Parker, Theodore Parker, Hallie Riggins; brother, Harlen Troup, Harcourt, Iowa.

 

Funeral Service: 10:00, A.M. Wednesday, February 5, 2014, Westboro United Methodist Church, Westboro, Missouri.
Interment: Center Grove Cemetery, Westboro.
Memorials: Center Grove Cemetery.
Open visitation will begin 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, at Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio. There is no scheduled family visitation.
