Dale A. Hull
Maryville, Missouri
1918-2012

 

Dale A. Hull, the son of Clarence Rudolph and Mabelle Naomi (Seaburg) Hull was born September 6, 1918, in Villisca, Iowa. Dale attended rural schools in Carthage, South Dakota and attended High School in Argon, South Dakota, before graduating from Daleview High School in rural Fairfax, Missouri in 1936. Dale then studied math at Tarkio College, Tarkio, Missouri, for 2 ½ years before enlisting in the United States Army on January 31, 1942 after the Pearl Harbor bombing. Dale served as a Quarter Master attached to the Army Air Corp, before being drafted into the United States Army Infantry. Following basic training, Dale was sent overseas with the 2nd Armored Division, until his honorable discharge on February 5, 1946.

 

On July 21, 1943, Dale was united in marriage to Evelyn Marie Campbell in Tarkio. To this union, two children, Robert Dale and Janet E. were born. Following his return, he was employed by Henry Field Nursery, Shenandoah, Iowa. Later George Knepper hired Dale as the parts man for Atchison County Implement in Tarkio. In 1951, Dale was approached by Jim Shaum to farm the Peckville Ranch, southeast of Westboro. Dale farmed for 33 years, harvesting the last crop in 1983. Dale and Evelyn then moved to Maryville where he lived to the present time. Evelyn passed away in 2007. Dale passed away June 11, 2012, at his home in Maryville, at the age of 93.

 

Dale was a former member of the Westboro R-IV School Board, Westboro United Methodist Church, University of Missouri Extension Board and the Atchison County Nursing Home Board. He was also a former member of the Allen-Schiffern American Legion Post #199 of Tarkio and was a past commander of the Merrill-Smith American Legion Post #32 in Westboro. Dale was a lifetime member of the Worth County Memorial Post #3123, Grant City, Missouri.

 

Besides his parents and wife, Dale was preceded in death by granddaughter, Cara Cathleen Hull and brother-in-law Norman Kemper. Survivors include son, Robert Dale Hull and wife, Sue Ellen, Grant City; daughter, Janet E. Hull , Maryville; two grandsons, Patrick C. Hull, and wife, Rachael, Fountain, Colorado and Jonathan Hull, Grant City; brother, Phillip Hull and wife, Meta, Westboro; sister, Phillis Kemper, Shenandoah; and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Services: 2:00 P.M., Friday, June 15, 2012, at Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio.
Interment: Home Cemetery, Tarkio.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 P.M. Friday, prior to the service, at Davis Funeral Home.
