Francis E. “Jack” Smith, the son of Quincey Lee, Sr. and Margaret Grace (McMillon) Smith, was born January 23, 1943, in Douglas, Georgia. He attended and graduated from Irwin County High School, Ocilla, Georgia.

 

In 1964, Jack entered the United States Army and served his country during the Vietnam War. He also was a Drill Sergeant and later promoted to Staff Sergeant. On January 31, 1981, Jack received his honorable discharge from the Army and entered the United States Air Force Reserve. In 2004, he retired from the Air Force and began working for the State Highway Patrol in Georgia. He retired in the mid 2000’s.

 

Jack was a member of the Ralph Greer American Legion Post #49, Rock Port, Missouri. He loved reading, painting, drawing, and listening to music. Jack also enjoyed spending time with his family. Jack passed away Monday, October 21, 2024, at his home in Rock Port, at the age of 81.

 

Besides his parents, Jack was preceded in death by brother, Buddy Smith. Survivors include companion, Rita Squires, Rock Port; children, Lee (Lisa) Smith, Rose (Mike) Banbury, Steven C. (Amy) Smith, Brian (Lindsay) Smith, Scott (Sue) Daugherty, and Mark (Julie) Daugherty; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; siblings, Quincey, Jr. (Eva) Smith, Danny Smith, and Sue Coley.

 

Celebration of Life: 11:30 A.M.-12:30 P.M., Saturday, October 26, 2024, Grace Church, Rock Port.

There is no scheduled visitation.

Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.

Memorials: Ralph Greer American Legion Post #49, Rock Port.

Cremation Arrangements: Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.
