James Lynn Nicks, the son of Floyd Westley and Edith Viola (Martin) Nicks, was born August 11, 1948, in Shenandoah, Iowa. He attended Bedford High School, Bedford, Iowa, graduating in 1966.

In 1989, James was united in marriage to Gerri Baumann at the Rock Port Baptist Church, Rock Port, Missouri. They made their home in the Rock Port area their entire married life. Gerri passed away in 2012.

In 1986, James was employed as a truck driver for Scott Melvin before he began working for Affiliated Food, Incorporation. He retired in 2013.

James participated in several bands as a singer. He loved listening to country music and animals, especially his dog, Chika. James passed away Friday, November 22, 2024, at his home in Watson, Missouri, at the age of 76.

Besides his parents and wife, Gerri Nicks, James was preceded in death by son, Shad Nicks. Survivors include stepdaughter, Jennifer (Kaven) Wood, Rock Port and Jason (Sara) Stephens, Florida; grandchildren, Hayden, Keaton, and Ethan, all of Rock Port.

There are no scheduled services.

Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
