Jonathan attended West Nodaway High School, located in Burlington Junction, Missouri, where he met his wife, Heather Long, and many life-long friends. He graduated in 2001. He then attended Delta Community College and University of Pacific, both of Stockton, California, where he was a cheerleader with his brother, Justin. In 2002, he returned to Missouri where he completed one year at Longview Community College in Kansas City, Missouri.

On May 31, 2003, Jonathan was united in marriage to Heather Long at the Elmo United Methodist Church, Elmo, Missouri. Jonathan then attended Missouri Western State University, St. Joseph, Missouri, earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Business Administrative.

They became the parents of two children, Madison (2003) and Hayden (2005).

Jonathan was employed as a Loan Officer and Underwriter for Mo-Kan, St. Joseph for 15 years. He was then employed by Bank Midwest in Savannah, Missouri and recently by Sunflower Bank in Kansas City, Missouri.

Jonathan was a member of the Lions Club and many more organizations in the surrounding areas. Jonathan was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed gardening, fishing, boating, hunting, and farming with his family and friends. Jonathan also loved and enjoyed watching his children in all of their sporting events and cheering them on from the sidelines.
