November 30, 1964 - June 24, 2022
Marcy Ann Buckles, the daughter of Tom and Diane (Gebhards) Boatman, was born on November 30, 1964, in Fairfax, Missouri. Marcy attended Rock Port High School, Rock Port, Missouri, graduating in 1983. She attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri earning a bachelor’s of science degree in education. She started her teaching career in 1987 at Fairfax Elementary School but spent most of her career as well as retiring in 2016 at Nodaway Holt. Teaching was not only Marcy’s career, but was her passion. She strived to mold her young students into thriving young adults. Her teaching never stopped in the classroom as was shown in countless numbers of letters received from former students thanking her for the lifelong impact she made on their lives.
Marcy was blessed with her first born, Tanner Ray Ingram on March 26, 1990 and four years later her daughter, Tori Beth Ingram born April 29, 1994. Being a mother was her biggest blessing in life and Tanner and Tori were her most valuable treasures.
In 2013 Marcy was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer. She approached this battle with the grit of a fearless warrior. With each round of chemo or obstacle she met, she remained positive and never gave up the fight. She was a true inspiration to all who knew her, including all the doctors and nurses who felt privileged to care for Marcy. She approached each diagnosis and treatment plan as a challenge that she could take on with the support of her family, friends and loved ones. Her tremendous positive attitude allowed her to enjoy 10 more years with her family while shining her light on everyone around her. This mentality showed in everything she did through the number of people she profoundly impacted throughout her life.
On January 4, 2018, Marcy was united in marriage to Dennis Buckles who was the love of her life. Her family expanded with the addition of her stepchildren Keiffer Buckles and Makynlee (Buckles) and Tyler Turner. They became proud grandparents (Papa and Gigi) to Colt and Magnolia Turner.
Marcy enjoyed growing up on her family farm and could often be found at the Rock Port pool any time between 10am to 9 pm. When it came to the weekends, the family boating excursions were the highlight of the summer. She was always active in swimming, diving, basketball, track and golf. Her love for the sun and beach were the number one requirement for vacation.
Marcy passed away in Maryville, Missouri on Friday, June 24, 2022 with her family by her side at the age of 57.
