Maxine Porter, the daughter of Benjamin Fredrick and Faye Evelyn (Fischer) Gubser, was born November 2, 1931 in Fairfax, Missouri. Maxine attended Prairie Flower Country School then later attended Fairfax High School, Fairfax, graduating in 1949. She attended Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville, Missouri for two years.

 

On February 10, 1951, Maxine was united in marriage to Clarence Porter at Rupes Grove Methodist Church, Fairfax. They made their home in Omaha, Nebraska and became the parents of five children, Danny, Diane, Denny, Dwaine, and Dwight. Clarence passed away in November of 2008.

 

Maxine was employed by Immanuel Medical Center, Omaha. Following their move to Rock Port, Missouri, Maxine was employed by Community Hospital-Fairfax, Fairfax where she was a secretary. She later retired in 2009.

 

Maxine passed away Thursday, July 8, 2021, at her home in Omaha at the age of 89.

 

Besides her parents and husband, Clarence, Maxine was preceded in death by son Danny Porter; granddaughter, Deanna Porter; siblings, Ramona German, Phyllis Fletchall, and George Gubser. Survivors include children, Diane Watson, Omaha, Denny (Jeanette) Porter, Rock Port, Dwaine (Wendy) Porter, Omaha, and Dwight Porter, Omaha; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Janice Pierce, Fairfax, David (Marge) Gubser, Houston, Texas, and Ray (Jeanene) Gubser, Praire Grove, Arkansas; numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Graveside Service and Interment: 11:00 A.M., Monday, July 12, 2021, English Grove Cemetery, Fairfax.

Open visitation begins 10:00 A.M., Sunday, July 11, Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port, where the family will receive friends from 4:00-5:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Maxine Porter Memorial Fund.
