Mona Lynn Sickman, the daughter of Robert Eugene and Phillis Joan (Grantham) Misemer, was born September 27, 1952, in Bethany, Missouri. In 1970 Mona graduated from Stanberry High School, Stanberry, Missouri. In 1975 she graduated from Northwest Missouri State University with a Bachelor’s of Fine Art.

 

On August 15, 1975, Mona was united in marriage to Lee Roy Sickman at the Hope Lutheran Church, Maryville. They made their home in Maryville and became the parents of three children, Maridi Leigh, Tyler Eugene, and Carl Austin.  Tyler and Austin were born in Texas.

 

In June of 1981, the family moved to Marshall, Texas where Mona was employed by a sports advertising company, where she created signs, caps, and t-shirts. She was a Dallas Cowboys fan and one season designed the art work on the Texas Tech football helmets. In 1991, the family moved to Tarkio, Missouri, where Mona worked at the Flower Mill for 20 years. She arranged flowers for nearly every occasion including weddings, birthdays, as well as created ribbons. She retired in 2017.

 

Mona was a member of the First Christian Church, Rock Port.  She was a former Cub Master with the Tarkio Cub Scouts, and creator of many Mic-O-Say costumes.  She enjoyed puzzles, sewing, crocheting, cross word puzzles, scrap booking, Calligraphy and recently began quilting.  Mona passed away June 2, 2020 at her home in Tarkio at the age of 67.

 

Besides her parents, Mona was preceded in death by daughter Maridi Leigh.  Survivors include, husband, Lee Roy Sickman, Tarkio; sons, Tyler (Morgan) Sickman, Essex, Iowa and Austin Sickman, Maryville; grandchildren, Korbin, Kemper, and Dylan; brothers, Gale (Sonia) Misemer, St. Joseph and Kendell Misemer, Stanberry; sister-in-law, Wanda Samson, Fremont, Nebraska; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

Funeral Service: 11:00 A.M., Monday, June 8, 2020, First Christian Church, Rock Port, Missouri.

Interment: St. John’s Cemetery, Westboro, Missouri

Open visitation begins at 10:00 A.M., Sunday, June 7, Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio. There is no scheduled family visitation.

Memorials: First Christian Church, Rock Port, Tarkio Boy Scouts, or Tarkio Resource Center
