Phillip Nathan Randall, the son of General and Lena (Haer) Randall, was born on June 16, 1930, at his family’s home in Craig, Missouri. Phillip graduated from Craig High School.
On May 28, 1948, Phillip enlisted in the United States Air Force where he was an instructor on the mechanical maintenance and repair of the B-29 Bomber. He was stationed at Sheppard Air Force Base, Wichita Falls, Texas and Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, Mississippi. Phillip received his Honorable Discharge on May 27, 1952 after earning the rank of Staff Sergeant.
On June 24, 1951, Phillip was united in marriage to Wilma Fredora Krutz at the Lutheran Church in Craig. They made their home in the Corning, Missouri area and later moved to Rock Port, Missouri, living in their new home built by Phillip. Phillip farmed and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Many knew him affectionately as “Catfish”. During the late 1970’s and 1980’s they spent many enjoyable vacations in Hawaii. In 2011, they moved to Shawnee, Kansas due to Wilma’s health, and to be closer to their family. Wilma passed away in 2018. Phillip passed away Sunday, May 3, 2020, at Olathe Hospice House, Olathe, Kansas, at the age of 89.
Besides his parents and wife, Wilma, Phillip was preceded in death by his sister Delores Howard and her husband Clavel, brother, Allan Randall; brother-in-law, Robert Castleberry, brother-in-law, Ralph Phelps, and sister-in-law, Theresa Randall.
Survivors include two sons, Michael David (Carolyn) Randall, Olathe and Marcus Daniel (Jeanne) Randall, St. Charles, Missouri; daughter, Cynthia Elaine (Tim) Macek, Shawnee; seven grandchildren, Jason (Tellena) Randall, Eudora, Kansas, Jaime (Tyler) Farnworth, Ventura, California, Laura (Joel) Ensey, Marion, Kansas, Derek (Becky) Randall, Rosalia, Kansas, David (Whitney) Randall, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Elaine Macek, Kansas City, Missouri and Kevin Macek, Lawrence, Kansas; thirteen great-grandchildren, Ezra, Zane and Isaac Ensey, Aydnn, Easton and Hollis Randall, Harlee, Mason, Rylee and Jaxson Randall, Lillian and Camden Randall, and Olivia Farnworth; sisters, Marcia Castleberry, Wichita, Kansas, Karen (Noel) Fischer, King City, Missouri, Janice Phelps, Rock Port, brother, Nelson Randall, Stillwell, Kansas; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service 1:00 PM Saturday, May 9, 2020, First Lutheran Church, Rock Port.
The family will receive friends 12:00 – 1:00 PM, Saturday at First Lutheran.
Due to the Governor removing restrictions on the number of attendees at funerals and other events, all of Phillip’s family and friends are encouraged to attend the service. However, the social distancing rule is still in place for those in attendance.
Interment: Hunter Cemetery, Rock Port where full military rites will be performed by Ralph Greer American Legion Post #49, Rock Port.
Memorials: First Lutheran Church, Rock Port.
Services are under the direction of Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port.
