Ruth Elaine Henning, the eldest of four children, was born in Martin, South Dakota on December 1, 1928 to Ralph and Edith (Thenell) Roberts. She graduated from Westboro High School, Westboro, Missouri, in 1946, and married Bill Henning in 1947. They had four children – Judy, Jerry, Jon and Julie. Ruth and Bill later divorced.
Ruth went on to live in Brownsville, Texas, Clovis, New Mexico, and Yuma, Arizona, before returning to Tarkio in 2008. She was a woman of strong faith, was involved in her church, and enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with family and close friends. Ruth passed away October 13, 2019 at Community Hospital-Fairfax, Fairfax, Missouri at the age of 90.
Besides her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her brother, David Roberts. She is survived by her brother, Richard (Carolyn) Roberts of Mound City, Missouri and sister, Carol Ann Hartwell of Muskogee, Oklahoma; her daughters, Judy Carnahan of Tarkio, and Julie (Carlos) Moreno of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, her sons Jerry (Debra) Henning of Tarkio, and Jon (Irene) Henning of Westboro; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Private Graveside Service and Interment to be held at Center Grove Cemetery, Westboro, Missouri.
There is no visitation.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Center Grove Cemetery.
